3/7/09 - David Harrington (103) finished in 3rd Place at the 2009 State Tournament. David continues the tradition of the Panthers having a State placer every year since 1992, a span of 18 years.9/21/09 - Rick Bellamy is named head wrestling coach at SMCC. Mark Hiemstra resigned as Head Coach after accepting a new job offer outside of wrestling in Texas. Congratulations to Coach Bellamy on his new position. Good Luck to Coach Hiemstra and thank you for your many years of dedication to SMCC wrestling.12/12/09 - In the first action of the season, the Panthers took 1st place at the Hebron Lakewood Duals with a perfect 5-0 record. Alex Guerra (103/112), Adam Guerra (112/119), and Kody Bellamy (215) went 5-0 in their matches. Garrett Kowalski (140), Brandon Fox (160), and Leo Samaratoni (189) finished with 4-1 records.12/17/09 - The Panthers split their matches at the Midview Quad meet. They beat John Marshall 47-30 and lost to Midview 42-34. Going 2-0 for the Panthers were Alex Guerra (103), Adam Guerra (112/119), Logan Reichart (125), Garrett Kowalski (140), Angelo Calderon (145), Perry Smith (152), and Kody Bellamy (215).12/19/09 - SMCC defeated Willard in a dual match 39-36. The final outcome was not determined until the final bout. SMCC was down 36-33 and needed a major decision or better from 215 pounder Kody Bellamy to win the match. A decision by Kody Bellamy would have tied the score, but Willard would have won on tie-breakers. Bellamy came up big with a pin at 5:42 in a close scoring match.1/2/10 - SMCC took 4th place at the Cardington Duals with a 3-2 record. Alex Guerra (103) and Angelo Calderon (145) went 5-0 for the day. Adam Guerra (112), Logan Reichert (125), Kody Bellamy (215), and Brandon Bostater all finished at 4-1.1/9/10 - SMCC placed 10th at the weather shortened Perry Pin City Tournament. Angelo Calderon (140) and Kody Bellamy (215) finished at 4-1. Alex Guerra (103) and Logan Reichert (125) were 3-1. Placing for the Panthers were Logan Reichert (125) and Kody Bellamy (215) - 3rd Place; and Alex Guerra (103) - 4th.1/16/10 - SMCC split its matches at the Lutheran West Quad Meet. They defeated the host Longhorns 63-6 the lost to St. Ed's Green Team 36-30. Going 2-0 for the Panthers were Alex Guerra (103), Adam Guerra (112), Logan Reichert (125), Perry Smith (160), and Brandon Bostater (285).1/23/10 - SMCC finished 5th at the SBC Duals with a 2-5 record. Leading the way for the Panthers was freshman Alex Guerra (103) with a 7-0 record for the 2-day event. Sophomores Logan Reichert (119/125), 6-1; Kody Bellamy (215), 5-2; and Joe Dauch (112) 3-1 also had successful weekends.1/27/10 - SMCC dropped both matches in a tri-meet vs. Genoa and Tiffin Columbian. Going 2-0 for the Panthers were Alex Guerra (103), Logan Reichert (125), and Kody Bellamy (215).1/30/10 - SMCC finished in 12th place (out of 18 teams) at the 2010 D3 Duals held at SMCC this weekend. The Panthers finished with a 4-6 record. West Jefferson won the Tournament with a 10-0 record. Alex Guerra (103) went 10-0 for the weekend, Joe Dauch (112) and Logan Reichert (119/125) went 9-1, Kody Bellamy (215) was 8-2, and Brandon Bostater (285) was 7-3.2/6/10 - The tri-meet at Marion Pleasant was canceled due to heavy snow.2/13/10 - SMCC finished 6th at the 2010 SBC Tournament. Joe Dauch (112) and Logan Reichert (125) finished 2nd in their weight classes. Adam Guerra (119), Angelo Calderon (140, Jon Sciarappa (145), Kody Bellamy (215), and Brandon Bostater (285) finished 4th. Alex Guerra (103), Garrett Kowalski (135), and Brandon Fox (160) were unable to wrestle due to injuries.2/20/10 - The Panthers finished 4th as a team at the Huron Sectionals and will advance seven (7) wrestlers to the District Tournament at Owens Tech. SMCC had 3 champions: Joe Dauch (112), Angelo Calderon (145) and Kody Bellamy (215). Placing 2nd for the Panthers were Alex Guerra (103) and Logan Reichert (125). Perry Smith (152) added a 3rd place finish and Adam Guerra (119) placed 4th. |
